Silence

Silence isn’t golden, it’s a roaring thunder that drowns out everything else.   It’s your own voice screaming words you cannot hear, your heart beating so loud in your ears that there is nothing else in the world.  Silence isn’t a sound, or even a lack of sounds, it’s a madness that sweeps through your blood and rips holes in your mind, shatters your sanity, and tears your heart to shreds.

 Silence is watching life fade from a golden eye, and being helpless to call it back.  Silence is watching tears fill Sakura’s eyes as she struggles to stop the flow of blood from a wound that will not close.  Silence is watching a boy-not-yet-a-man fight in your place because you are too numb.

 It’s a world of insanity, where a thousand voices screaming cannot be heard over the sound of your own cries.  It’s a hell and you are pitifully glad when the time-space-witch’s magic wraps you up and carries you away from a world named Silence that has taken the only thing you ever loved with all your heart and left an aching void in its place.

 And then there is only silence… and a battered, bloody body in your arms.
